Don’t Save It All For Christmas Day (Celine Dion)
1998
Celine Dion tended towards original tracks for her Christmas album These Are the Special Times and even when she does tackle “classics” they are relatively new ones such as José Feliciano’s Feliz Navidad and John Lennon’s Happy Xmas (War is Over). Always one to surround herself with great talent some of the album’s songs are written by R Kelly, Diane Warren, Bryan Adams, Carole Bayer Sager and David Foster. Dion herself composed Don’t Save It All For Christmas Day with Ric Wake and Peter Zizzo, both of whom she had worked with on previous albums. Unlike most festive songs the focus here is not on the holiday itself (“Seasons, reasons, they don’t matter”) but on showing people you love them the whole year.
Fun fact: This is Dion’s third Christmas album but her first in English – the first two were in French and released in 1981 and 1983 respectively.

The theme for Bestest Song Club December 2015 is: Bestest Modern Christmas Songs.
Criteria: Song must have been recorded no earlier than 1980.
