Dreamin’ (Vanessa Williams)
#8 on the US Hot 100
When an artist becomes known for a classic it can often drown out their other, less successful work. When you think “Vanessa Williams” you probably think Save The Best For Last, her 1992 smash that was not only the fourth biggest selling single in the US that year, but also netted Song of the Year and Record of the Year Grammy nominations. But without the top ten success of Dreamin’ (the third single off her debut album) there would may have been no second album and, thus, no Save the Best For Last.
Fun fact: The 8’s had it for Vanessa at this point in her career. This song hit #8 while follow up single Darlin’ I peaked at #88.
