When We’re Old (Ieva Zasimauskaitė)
There were some strong entries in the Lithuanian selection competition – my favourites were Kotryna Juodzevičiūtė, Jurgis Brūzga, and Monika Marija. Who clearly did not qualify. Ieva Zasimauskaitė’s full name is Ieva Zasimauskaitė-Kiltinavičienė. So you can see why she uses her maiden name.
“The song is titled When We’re Old, so we need old people. Lots of them. And some pigeons.”
After all this time
I hate the sound of goodbye
And if you leave, I would
You would what, honey? Cry? Fly? Fry? Pry? I’m going with “fry”.
Just like their neighbour Latvia, Lithuania has sent a quiet song. Just like Lithuania this could stand or fall on how it’s sung. Zasimauskaitė will need to deliver this flawlessly live. Is she up to it?
