Promise of a New Day (Paul Abdul)
Eagle’s calling and he’s calling your name.
Tides are turning bringing winds of change.
Why do I feel this way?
The promise of a new day.
This decidedly optimistic song, the second single from her second album Spellbound, was the last of Abdul’s six number ones. It was released only two months after first single Rush, Rush and the two songs almost swapped places on the 10 August 1991 Billboard Hot 100 chart – that week Rush, Rush fell from 13 to 22 while Promise rose from 23 to 15.
Fun fact: Abdul is a co-writer of the song, her only US Hot 100 #1 hit on which she has a writing credit.
