There’s a Brand New World (Five Star)
1988

So burn out the cold
And set me free
There’s a brand new world out there
For both of us to see

Five Star were often compared to the Jacksons and it’s obvious the British siblings were inspired by Michael, Janet et al. But they established their own brand of UK R&B infused with pop and dance and in the mid-1980s were immensely prolific – churning out 20 singles from 1985 to 1988 alone. This is from their Rock The World album but was only a moderate success, reaching #61 on their home chart.
Fun fact: The writer is lead singer Denise Pearson. The members of the group, especially the sisters, wrote many of their own songs.
